Default 0.4 beta 3 released

A new version of glype proxy script is now available. The main update to this release is the fix for cookies not being received properly during redirects. This issue prevented logging in to a number of sites such as MySpace, Facebook, etc.

Additionally, there is now sha1 encryption on the cached filenames to help get around filters. Thanks to steven for suggesting this!

A number of minor adjustments have also been made internally but other than this, it's the same as beta2. If you've still been using 0.3 Final because of the login bug, those release notes (and beta1) will also apply.

The default theme has been updated so that the "powered by" text now simply says glype instead of glype proxy, which should help a little with filters. I've also edited the index template so the whole page can be redesigned just by changing themes (it used to have the "Go" image button hardcoded into the template file, making it impossible to change with themes alone).

You need to upload all the files. If you're getting a 404 it means the file is not there, but /process/update.php is definitely in the zip package.

yup the file is in the zip and has uploaded to my host fine. if you even type the address in manually to the file it loads but gives 404

Works fine for me. Try refreshing. If your server is giving you a 404 error when the file is there, you need to get onto your host because that's a very serious problem with the hosting and nothing to do with the script. It's much more likely that your FTP client did not upload everything correctly but if you've checked all files are there, I don't know what to suggest. I just tested the link you posted and it works perfectly for me.

seems i might of found something.

I am using free hosting, an my address is

http://inetfreely.free-web-hosting.biz but they also support your own domain names with there name servers.

this worked fine on the older version, but it seems if i use my main domain name inetfreely.com the script gives the above problem, yet if i use the subdomain they provide its all ok.

is this an oversight in your script at all, i ask this as the other version was ok, but i was getting some errors which this new version fix's

looks great so far.

it even fixes the problem where (some) images were not loading if JavaScript was allowed

monday will be a true test though, as the server gets next to no traffic on weekends

---EDIT 1-----

except, page loads seem to be taking at least 5 times longer than version 3 final

I wonder what would be causing that :/ I have both on the same server/different directors on the same domain just to test it out

--EDIT 2----

just to build on my last edit

the final version of 3 loads pages completely from my server in literally under 2 seconds - full page and images all loaded and displayed

I timed the loading of the same exact page using the latest beta of version 4 and the page request took between 27 and 29 seconds to finish

I cleared cache prior to each test to be sure nothing was getting loaded from a previous attempt and got the same results many times so It could not have been a random server usage spike it is defiantly something with the new version

I have not been online much today, but after school tomorrow I'll look into why its doing this. -- just thought I would let you know its happening

--edit 3----

heres a little bit of server info to build upon that

centos 5
Apache 2.2.4
PHP 5.1.6
curl 7.15.5

I know none of the apache/php/curl is the absolute latest version, but I am not sure if that would be the reason causing the massive difference in load times for the 2 versions of your script

would you mind posting what versions of those programs you are running for your demo(or development) of the script--that way I can try if that is the cause of the problem

in settings.php turn gzip off

Quote:
// Use gzip compression
define('optGZIP',false);
I have to turn this off or else glype goes really slow on my server. I;m not really sure why. I have plenty of bandwidth though so I would rather have a snappier server response at the moment.
